Melodeath without the death?
The music these Norwegians perform is some kind of watered down modern melodic death metal but with clean singing, or maybe beefed up modern heavy metal with some harsh vocals thrown in? Here and there the singer bursts out in some semi-growling but mostly it’s clean singing all the way to church. It is a few heavy guitar riffs hidden around in places and some fat drum grooves, but that is it. You also get some In Flames/Bullet For My Valentine vibes, and if the vocals had been more raw, it could have passed through my filter. I really tried my best to listen to it with an open mind but I couldn’t make it to the end. When listening to the song “Invisible kin” I experienced a heart failure when that chick began to sing , and my wife had to to use a cattle prod to revive me. On their first album these guys actually had some small things going their way, but they took the wrong turn on the way to the studio for this one. Best song: “Sluggerfest”, Worst song: The rest of them.
I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than listen to this again.
4/10: Quite well performed, but no cigar!
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
